To the Strict Sketes of the Anzer Island

Description: The Anzer Island is the second largest island of the Solovki where in the XVII – XVIII centuries were founded the first sketes of the Solovetsky monastery – the strict Holy-Trinity and Golgotha-Crucifixion sketes. The visitors review many kind of landscapes of the island, learn the history of the monastic, prison camp and modern period of the Anzer island.
Notice: the distance from the tour agency to the pier in the Dolgaya Guba bay (5 km) and back the visitors cover on foot. Travel time from the pier to the Anzer island - 2.5 hours. The distance which the visitors cover on foot on the Anzer island is 12 km. There are no service- and meal points on the island so the visitors should take all necessary things with them. The sketes are functional and the visitors shall keep rules of the sketes and shall be dressed in a proper way. The excursion is possible under good weather conditions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with blessing of the vice-rector of the monastery.
